Terp Family Student Scholarship Review Comittee

Home Involvement Terp Family Student Scholarship Review Comittee

The Office of Family Engagement proudly awards the Terp Family Student Scholarship, a one-time award presented each year to undergraduate students in good standing who may be unable to continue their education at the University due to extenuating financial circumstances. More than 300 applications are received annually. Thanks to the generosity of many parent and family donors, the scholarship committee will award a minimum of 20 scholarships of up to $2,000.

Each spring, volunteers are needed for the Terp Family Student Scholarship Review Committee.

As previous volunteers who have done this very important task can attest, this is an extremely gratifying and rewarding volunteer opportunity. You will be part of a process that helps many students in need. To make it even better, you can volunteer from the comfort of your home or while on a beach vacation!

ELIGIBILITY & EXPECTATIONS

  • Volunteers must be a parent or adult family member of a current or former UMD student.
  • Volunteers must attend one (45-minute) training session via Zoom.
  • Volunteers will read and evaluate 10-15 application essays. This opportunity typically takes 3-4 hours.
  • All review materials will be provided in late May, and evaluations will be due in late June.
